white ribbon 2010

i loved the shots in this great film. one shot that stays with me (that i cannot find) is in the hallway while two children are being caned: the beauty of a long shot with minimal movement, confined in a small space with a beautifully controlled and positioned amount of lighting. a masterpiece from a master.

dogtooth 2010

a more structured anna gaskell

reminds me of an insular gursky

i loved the way lanthimos cut people in the frame. making beautiful images that supported the story. unsettling and composed

the films minimal use of cuts and camera movements solidified the story. focus pulls were used sparingly and very effectively
